My Teacher bag

It is coming up to the end of the school year and it’s time to see what has ended up being my everyday items that I take to school. Like many teachers, I’m sure I only carry the essentials……

I demand a lot from my school bag as this poor Radley bag can attest to. I bought this as a present to myself when I finished my teacher training and spent a FORTUNE on it. Unfortunately the shoulder strap broke under the sheer weight of everything I was shoving into it.

The bag

This year I wanted a back pack (to make it easier to carry additional bags!!) and I searched for one that I could fit EVERYTHING in. I started off the year with this one from amazon, but I never seemed to be able to fit everything in, especially my lunch bag.

So I searched online and found this little gem, it is the Coast Rucksack from Joules. It comes in 4 different colours and this limited edition print (Navy Bouquet) It is pricey at £59.95 but it had excellent reviews and I loved the colours

This bag has so many pockets! On the outside it has 4, one on either side, a zipped one on the back and a large one on the front.

On the inside of the bag there are 8 pockets, so more than enough organisation. They are elasticated so can hold a range of different shaped objects.

It is a top opening bag so you can throw a lot of stuff in, as you can see mine is jam packed!

Just thrown (not literally) into the main compartment are my laptop (MacBook air 13”) and cable, my iPad 2018, my lanyard with my memory sticks on, my lunch bag (Aldi) and fantastic drinks bottle (Home Bargains £6.99).

In the front inside pocket I keep emergency post-its and my apple pencil, there is also a key holder that, if I remember to, will attach my keys.

In the side pocket I keep a small toiletries bag with everything but the kitchen sink, mainly because I work 40 miles away from home and you just never know when you might need something!

  • Comb
  • Mirror
  • Floss
  • Toothbrush
  • Lip balm
  • Hair bands
  • Plasters
  • Painkillers
  • Sudafed
  • Immodium
  • Savlon

As for the inside pockets,  I don’t keep anything in the zipped pocket at the back but in the two pockets on that I keep my pencil case and my wires case.

My wires case contains a wire or adapter for almost anything that would need charging ever!
  • iPod wire
  • Lightning wire with apple pencil adapter
  • Triple wire with iPod, micro USB and lightning
  • Plug
  • Fitbit Versa charger
  • iPhone earphones
  • Normal earphones
  • Spare memory stick
  • Headphone splitter
  • Micro USB to USB adapter
  • Micro USB to lightning adpater
  • Lightning to headphone jack dongle
  • Power bank

All in all I think it’s crazy the amount of ‘things’ most teachers carry, and I am envious of those that turn up at 8.40 just carrying their keys and their phone, but I guarantee that they will come knocking on my door when they need something!

Hope you enjoyed the tour round my bag.                                                                                                   Thanks for reading!
