Ammeters measure the current that flows in a circuit. Current is a flow of charge around a circuit.
Current is measured in Amps.
Voltmeters measure the voltage across components in a circuit. Another name for voltage is Potential Difference.
Voltage is like the amount of push in a circuit. Voltage is measured in Volts.
Ammeters and voltmeters have to be connected in a certain way.
- Ammeters are always connected in series.
- Voltmeters are always connected in parallel with the component. This means that a voltmeter always has it’s own wires.
